A basic definition says that a head shot is a modern, that is usually digital, portrait in which the focus is on the person. Ho-hum… Boring definition and yet I’ve seen head shots that invoke that very description. Fortunately, some photographers believe a head shot should not only focus on the person, but also make a client want to meet this person.
What is it about this image that makes the person look confident, successful and at the same time approachable? The image should draw clients in, so they want to hire you. If this is the first image everyone sees of you on social media, your website, business card and your other marketing materials, it is worth your time and money to seek out a photographer who can do this for you. A photographer that takes the time to ask questions about you, your brand, your industry. A photographer who takes the time to understand your needs and what you want to express through your images. A photographer that knows what is important to you!
Finally, a head shot should not be an afterthought, but a significant part of your brand.
