Family photos shoots in winter? ❄ Why not? Fall is the time many family photos are scheduled. The colors of autumn 🍂 are on grand display and provide a wonderful backdrop, but in Michigan we have 4 seasons, not including construction IYKYK. 😀. Therefore, there is a reason to have photos done in any season with numerous locations to visit for each one.
Vivid images pop into my head when I think of the seasons in Michigan. Like for Spring the color green 💚comes to mind with the renewal of Mother Earth. Green grass, trees 🌳 and nature beginning to wake up from it’s slumber. Flowers 🌺blooming nourished by the rains. With warmer weather we can pack away the parkas and wear lighter jackets. Celebrate the season with family photos. New season, new photos.
Summer’s color for me is Blue. 💙 Blue skies, blue lakewater, sailboats ⛵️and beaches. Sun warming wild fields, lavender growing, fireworks,🎆 shorts, and vacations are the things Michiganders look forward to all winter when the snow is flying. After fall, I think summertime is the next popular time to take photos due to the warmer weather. Head out to parks, sandy beaches, lake areas, or wild fields for a casual vibe. Take advantage of the longer days and head downtown to capture the golden light of dusk coupled with urban lights reflected in large windows to get that metropolitan feeling in your images.
Fall is all about Color. Travel up north on 1-75 highway “to see the color” is a favorite pastime for those who live in Michigan, because frankly, the color is spectacular. Deep reds, burnt oranges and glimmering gold 🍁 turn landscapes into masterpieces. This is also the time for campfires, picking apples, drinking cider and donuts. Towering sunflowers 🌻take the stage as the main flower of the season and as the weather is cooler, comfy sweaters, jeans and sports apparel are the norm. Let’s not forget it is football season here in Michigan and I don’t know of another place that has more loyal fans than those of the Detroit Lions, Michigan Wolverines and Michigan State Spartans. So you will see a plethora of Honolulu Blue 🩵, Green and White 💚🤍 and Maize and Blue 💙💛. If you are thinking of autumn photos consider locations with a lot of color like parks or fields. Cider mills are a popular venue with red barns and they do fall the best with their seasonal decor. So throw on your favorite sport jersey and head out for cider and photos at your favorite fall place.
Have you ever considered taking family photos in the winter? ❄ Discover Michigan’s winter wonderland with its pristine covering of new fallen snow on pine trees, bridges and roads. Winter landscapes make for a unique backdrop for photos. Even though you are bundled in parkas, have fun posing with snowmen, ⛄️ engaging in snowball fights and making the most of the winter scene. Even if the weather doesn't cooperate, head over and take a photo with Santa to capture the holiday and winter season! If you have never taken winter photos, maybe it’s time to give it a try.
Seasons trigger past experiences and memories. Why not make a new memory with family photos, in any season. 📸
